Many times we are at a situation where we need to type something from images or a document. But, typing requires a lot of time and you need to have good precision in order to minimize the time required to type the words. Moreover, being a student you might need something to note for your schoolwork or just you want to send someone some nice lines you saw in an image or a document. For these purposes, OCR applications are used. OCR stands for Optical Character Recognization. According to Wikipedia;

Optical character recognition or optical character reader (OCR) is the mechanical or electronic conversion of images of typed, handwritten or printed text into machine-encoded text, whether from a scanned document, a photo of a document, a scene-photo (for example the text on signs and billboards in a landscape photo) or from subtitle text superimposed on an image (for example from a television broadcast).
