Android 11 BETA is released and here is the OxygenOS based Android 11 for OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. This article explains how to update OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro to OxygenOS Android 11 BETA.

Soon after Android 11 released for Pixel devices, Essential has it released for its device and Xiaomi also released Android 11 for Redmi K20 Pro.

Known Issues:

  • All data will be cleared while flashing the build
  • Face unlock is unavailable
  • Google Assistant (“OK Google”) does not work
  • Video calling does not work
  • Certain UI screens look less than desirable
  • Some apps may not function as expected
  • System stability issues

About OxygenOS Android 11 Beta:

Android 11 is released as BETA version. The same is for this OxygenOS build which is called as Developer Preview (DP). More build types below:

MP version = Stable official version of OxygenOS 11
DP version = Developer Preview version w.r.t Android 11 DP
OBT version = Open Beta Version are pre-stable or Release Candidate builds of OxygenOS

Downlaod OxygenOS Android 11 for OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro:

The OnePlus 8 series carrier devices (T-Mobile and Verizon) are not compatible with the Android 11 OxygenOS BETA builds.

Update OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro to Android 11 OxygenOS 11:

DP version to OBT Android 11 upgrade:

Users of OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro opted for developer preview (usually on DP4 and DP5) or Android Beta program will be receiving OTA update on their phones.

Android 10 MP version to Android 11 OBT upgrade – via local OTA update:

DISCLAIMER: Keep in mind that this is a beta version of Android 11 OxygenOS firmware. These builds are not as stable as the Official Release Version (MP builds) of OxygenOS. By installing this update, you accept the potential risks.
  1. Download the latest build of OxygenOS Android 11 for OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8 Pro from the above download links.
  2. Copy the ROM upgrade package to the phone storage.
  3. Go to Settings > System > System Updates > Click top right icon > Local upgrade > Select the Android 11 OBT package > upgrade

    Wait for the system upgrade to be completed to 100%.
  4. After the upgrade is complete, click Restart.
  5. The phone will boot into recovery mode to format user data, it will reboot again after formatting.
  6. Android 11 Update is successful on your OnePlus 8 / OnePlus 8 Pro.

OBT to MP rollback from Android 11 to Android 10 – via Local OTA update:

NOTE: This upgrade method will erase all the contents of the phone, please be sure to backup first.
  1. Download the stable MP release zip package of Android 10 for OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8 Pro from the above download links.
  2. Copy the Android 10 MP ROM upgrade package to the phone storage.
  3. Go to Settings > System > System Updates > Click top right icon > Local upgrade > Select the corresponding installation package > upgrade

    Wait for the system upgrade to be completed to 100%.
  4. After the upgrade is complete, click Restart.
  5. The phone will boot into recovery mode to format user data, it will reboot again after formatting.
  6. Update successful.
