OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 1 for OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro – Android 11


Android 11 is now released for everyone at the same time OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 1 for OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro is also released. This article explains how to update OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro to OxygenOS 11 Oepn Beta 1 based on Android 11.

About OxygenOS Android 11 Open Beta 1:

OxygenOS Open Beta (known as OBT version) follows after the Android BETA program but it is less stable than the OxygenOS OTA builds which is known as MP version.
Once the Android 11 is publicly released, OxygenOS Open Beta builds start rolling for devices.

MP version = Stable official version of OxygenOS 11
DP version = Developer Preview version w.r.t Android 11 DP
OBT version = Open Beta Version are pre-stable or Release Candidate builds of OxygenOS

System

Game space

  • Newly added mis-touch prevention feature. Please enable it, swipe down from the top of the screen, click, and the notification bar will pop out.

Ambient display

  • Added Always-on ambient Display function, custom Schedule / All day option included. Path: Settings –
    Display – Ambient Display.
  • Added 10 new clock styles. Path: Settings – Customization – Clock Style
  • Newly added Insight clock style, a joint creation with Parsons School of Design. It will change according to phone usage data. ( To set: Settings>Customization>Clock Style)

Dark mode

  • Added the shortcut key for Dark Mode, pull down the quick setting to enable.
  • Supporting automatically turn on feature & customize time range. Path: Settings – Display – Dark Mode – Turn on automatically – Automatically enable from sunset to sunrise / Custom time range.

Zen Mode

  • Added 5 new themes (ocean, space, grassland, Zen space1, Zen space2), and more timing options.
    Included the Group feature in Zen Mode, now you can invite your friends and enable the Zen Mode together.
    Gallery
    Supporting the Story function, automatically form weekly videos with photos and video in storage.

How to install Oxygen OS 11 in your OnePlus 8/ 8 Pro!

Requirements

  • You should own an OnePlus 8/ 8 Pro
  • At least 40% of battery
  • Sufficient mobile data or Wi-Fi should be there
  1. Download the file, and copy the update package to the phone storage.
  2. Now, go to Settings, tap on System, and System Updates.
  3. After this, click on the top-right icon, and select the Local upgrade option.
  4. Finally, select the file which you have downloaded.
  5. The device will be updated and restarted after the update.

Users of OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro opted for developer preview (usually on DP4 and DP5) or Android Beta program will be receiving OTA update on their phones.

Android 10 MP version to Android 11 OBT upgrade – via local OTA update:

  2. Copy the ROM upgrade package to the phone storage.

  4. After the upgrade is complete, click Restart.

OBT to MP rollback from Android 11 to Android 10 – via Local OTA update:

  3. Go to Settings > System > System Updates > Click top right icon > Local upgrade > Select the corresponding installation package > upgrade [su_note note_color=”#FBF4DD” text_color=”#A38C68″ radius=”3″ class=”” id=””]Wait for the system upgrade to be completed to 100%.[/su_note]
  4. After the upgrade is complete, click Restart.
  5. The phone will boot into recovery mode to format user data, it will reboot again after formatting.
