The Chinese vendor Meizu comes with awesome smartphones in their country. Their custom UI i.e. the Flyme OS is also known for its customization and stability. Last year, the brand unveiled its Meizu 16 series. These devices came with the Android 9 Pie out of the box. Now, the brand is rolling out Flyme OS 8.1 on top of Android 10 for the Meizu 16X. The Flyme OS 8.1 is the latest version of their custom UI.
Android 10 for Meizu 16X & Note 9!
The brand started the internal testing of the new UI in June for the Meizu 16X. They haven’t rolled out any beta updates for the device. But in July, they had started rolling out the stable update for internal users. However, the update was suspended due to a critical bug. But, the brand has fixed that bug and restarted rolling out the stable update. Interestingly, the brand has also rolled out the stable Android 10 update for the Meizu Note 9.
The information comes their official community, and a Meizu Engineer has confirmed the same. According to him, the update is rolling out on a small scale for both the Meizu 16X and the Meizu Note 9. It means that the update is rolling out in a phased rollout. This is the clarification from him:
16X and Note9 have been released on a small scale, please receive the upgraded experience of the pushed students.
The stable version of other models is still under development, so be patient and so on.
– Meizu Engineer
So, it will take some time to reach your units. The engineer has also confirmed that the Flyme OS 8.1 is under development for other Meizu smartphones. To recall Meizu has promised Android 10 update for the Meizu 16 series, Meizu 17 series, Meizu Note 9, Meizu Note 8, and Meizu X8. We don’t know whether the brand provides beta updates or push the stable beta directly to the users.
It is worth noting that, back in June the brand announced that it will be rolling out its new Flyme OS 8.1 UI for smartphones. The brand has started recruiting internal testers and will start on July 21 in China. The recruitment will last up to July 31. As part of the 8th anniversary, the brand will launch its first smartwatch on top of the Flyme OS. We will update once we get more knowledge about the same.
