    Hi,

    I have Moto G5 3Gb/16Gb, SKU 1676 VPVT1

I have successfully installed twrp, downloaded the rom etc.

TWRP will not install the rom:

Updater process ended with error : 255 Error installing zip file.

This happened with “…15.1-20180213-UNOFFICIAL-cedric.zip” and just the same with “…15.1-20180415-UNOFFICIAL-cedric.zip”

TWRP successfully installed no-verity-opt… – so I know that it CAN install things.

    Can anyone offer any clues?

    Thank you!

Further to my last post, I found several recommendations to unarchive the .zip, and edit the file at META_INF>Com>Google>Android>UpdaterScript to remove the first two lines (remove the Assert statements that refer to Cedric).
Unfortunately, I do not now seem to be able to recompress the files into a .zip format that TWRP will accept.

Well, if you are using Windows to modifying the UpdaterScript file then I will suggest you to use WinRar application.

    1. Don’t extract, rather just Open the zip file using WinRar app on Windows PC and then browse and open the UpdaterScript file from the opened WinRar window itself.
    2. Just right click on the UpdaterScript file and click on edit. It will open a Notepad or a Notepad++ or will ask you to choose an application to open the file.
    3. Edit and click on save and close the editor.
    4. When you close, WinRar will tell you that the file has been modified and ask you to save the changes done.

Update the file and you are DONE !

You can close the WinRar and re-open to verify your changes.
