• TWRP recovery download for Moto G 4G (peregrine)

  – Here is theTWRP update guide for the Moto G 4G. This TWRP recovery guide requires an unlocked bootloader on the Moto G 4G.

Root binary is NOT inbuilt in LineageOS 15, so you may need a separate SuperSu package or LineageOS su binary to install to gain ROOT access. Here is LineageOS Rooting guide
If there is no in-built ROOT or it does not work for some reason then you can try SuperSU rooting guide to enable ROOT access.

HOW TO INSTALL/DOWNLOAD/FLASH/UPDATE LineageOS 15 FOR Moto G 4G OREO CUSTOM ROM:

1. Follow this if you are flashing LineageOS 15 for Moto G 4G for the first time, or coming from another ROM:

   Points to NOTE:
   – Try to avoid restoring apps backup using Titanium Backup. It may break things up.
   – Don’t restore system data using Titanium Backup! It will definitely break the current installation.
   – It is also discouraged to Restoring Apps + Data using Titanium Backup.

   • Download and Copy the GApps and Moto G 4G LineageOS 15 ROM ZIP to your phone.
   • Boot into Recovery. Make sure to have a Custom recovery like CWM or TWRP or any other custom recovery. If not then follow the Custom Recovery Installation Guide for Moto G 4G (it’s a generic guide which will work for TWRP as well as CWM recovery or any other recovery)
   • Wipe data factory reset, Cache partition, Dalvik Cache and Format the System partition.
     – Here is a guide explaining how to wipe data using TWRP recovery.

     This will delete all your data on your phone. You may consider complete backup of your phone data or take a NANDROID backup of the current ROM

     – how to take NANDROID backup using TWRP recovery

   • First flash the Moto G 4G LineageOS 15 ROM ZIP from device. Then flash the GApps zip from your device memory.
     – Here is a post explaining how to install LineageOS
   • Then reboot into recovery (don’t skip this) and flash the Gapps for LineageOS 15 package.
     – Here is a post explaining how to flash GApps using TWRP recovery.
   • Reboot and Enjoy the Oreo 8.0 LineageOS 15 ROM for Moto G 4G.

2. Upgrading from earlier version of LineageOS 15 for Moto G 4G (peregrine):

   • Copy the latest Moto G 4G Lineage 15 ROM ZIP file to your phone.
   • Boot into Recovery.
   • Flash the latest LineageOS 15 ROM ZIP from your phone.
     – Here is a post explaining how to install LineageOS
   • Then flash the Lineage 15 Oreo GApps package.
     – Here is a post explaining how to flash GApps using TWRP recovery.
   • Reboot and Enjoy

Gracias por el esfuerzo, instalé en mi moto g 4g xt1040 y las fallas que encontré fueron:
-Al iniciar da un error de aplicación del sistema pero no identifica cual ni que es
-No abre / funciona la cámara, da error, muestra la opción de reportar – ignorar y muestra mensaje de
insertar una tarjeta de memoria antes de tratar de usar la cámara. Descargué e instalé dos aplicaciones de
cámara del playstore a ver si funcionaba pero dieron error de no acceso a la cámara por estar siendo usada
por otra aplicación.
-La función de girar la imagen en pantalla no funciona, traté de revisar toda la configuración y la habilité
en settings y en el acceso rápido de la barra de notificaciones y no funcionó.

No encontré otros inconvenientes pero lo que miré funcionó perfecto, muy rápida y agradable la Rom. No rootee porque era lo siguiente a las pruebas de funcionalidad y paré ahí.

Espero nueva versión para probar de nuevo y gracias por el trabajo y esfuerzo.

First impressions : fast fast and incredible fast !!! Never seen this speed on this device

What’s not working for me is the bleutooth. It goes on and off every second so i can’t connect my watch :s

Trate de instalarla como dice la guía pero me apareció el error de twrp recovery: Process Ended with error 7, alguien sabe como lo soluciono?

Instalada en mi moto g 4g xt1040 la versión del 20170908 y los errores que encontré fueron:

– En la instalación error 7 que no salía antes. Cambié el archivo updater script por la versión del 20170902 y funcionó, no sé si esto sea un grave error pero instaló la rom sin errores.
-Al iniciar da un error “el proceso system no responde”, da opciones cerrar aplicación y esperar.
-No funciona la cámara, da error de acceso, muestra la opción de reportar – ignorar. Descargué e instalé dos aplicaciones de cámara del playstore a ver si funcionaba pero dieron error de no acceso a la cámara por estar siendo usada por otra aplicación.

No encontré otros inconvenientes pero lo que miré funcionó perfecto, muy rápida y agradable la Rom. No rootee porque era lo siguiente a las pruebas de funcionalidad y paré ahí. Quiere decir que ya quedó ajustado el tema del giro de la pantalla y el wifi que no andaban en la versión del 20170906

Espero nueva versión para probar de nuevo y gracias por el trabajo y esfuerzo.

Installed the version of 20170914 in moto G XT1040. The camera does not work, flashlight, bluetooth (tries to connect but in the search of devices is put in permanent cycle of disconnection – connection) and the wifi is disconnected (connects a moment and falls, then reconnects and stays in cycle, Conection – disconnection). Linux appears as permissive, thanks for the effort to Carlos Arriaga and I expect another more stable version to test.
