Hello, I just tried to install LineageOS 16 on my HTC M8. The installation works normally, but after booting comes after about 4-5 seconds, the message “Power down” and the phone reboots into recovery mode. I have no Gapps installed at this time!

Additionally, when I try to install gapps, the error message “insufficient Memory on system, please delete apks from gapps” will be displayed.

Sorry for my english, it’s a google translation

The message is good enough to understand even if it is translated. :)

What I have seen from other users is that pico GApps does not work.
micro GApps is what has worked on this HTC One M8 LineageOS 16 ROM build.

Can you tell me what exactly you have done to flash this and where you have failed?
Also, tell me what GApps has lead to the insufficient memory error message?

That’s good, then let’s go ahead with google ;-)

I tried to gather all the information together.
For this purpose, I have 2 more installations performed,
one time without GApps, the second time with GApps.
    here are the results:

    Without GApps:
    Boot in TWRP 3.2.1-0
    Wipe:

    Dalvik / ART cache
    cache
    system
    Data
    Internal storage

    Install lineage16.0-20180902-UNOFFICIAL-m8.zip
    Installation without error messages
    1 Warning: No file_contexts
    script succsided: result was [1.000000]
    Reboot to system
    Normal boot process
    The normal surface appears
after about 5 seconds comes a pop-up window:

    ##############################################
    Power down
    shutting down
    ##############################################

    Phone reboots in recovery mode.
I have started several attempts, always the same result.
I have now discovered something by accident.
I had forgotten to remove the USB cable after an installation.
With inserted USB cable, the phone boots normally!
I configured it for a few minutes, everything more or less normal,
a lot of apps are not running.
(Camera, Music, Gallery are not running …. Mail, SMS, Calendar are running)
USB cable disconnected from the phone – Immediately comes the pop-up with the
Power Down message and the phone boots again!
    This is reproducible!

OK, now from the beginning with GApps:
The same procedure, the same wipe, installation of lineage-16.0-20180902-UNOFFICIAL-m8.zip
    Again without mistakes
Then immediately afterwards the installation of gapps_arm_cancro_9.0_pie.zip
Error messages on the display (typed by hand):
    ##############################################
    Open Gapps micro 9.0 – 20180811

    – Mount /system

    -Gathering device & ROM information

    -Performing system space calculation

    Insufficient Storage space available in
System Partition. You may want to use a
smaller open GApss package or consider
    removing some apps using gapps-config.
    See:’/externel_sd/imex/htc-m8/open_gapps_log.txt’
    for complete details and information.

    – Copying Log to /externel_sd/imex/htc-m8

-NO changes were made to your device

    Installer will now exit…

    Error code: 70
    – Unmounting /system

Updater Process ended with ERROR: 70
    Error installing zip file ‘/externel_sd/imex/htc-m8/gapps_arm_cancro_9.0_pie.zip’
    Updating partition details…
    …done
    ##############################################

I have attached the file open_gapps_log.txt

Sorry for the long mail, I have tried to provide as much information as possible.
I hope it helps with troubleshooting.

    Best regards

    Peter
