I see that you are discouraging the use of Titanium Backup. So…
1. Do you mean we shouldn’t use it to import apps/data from a previous ROM?
2. Is it ok to use TB once 14.1 is installed and just make backups of new stuff on the ROM (vs importing old stuff to the new ROM)
2. Is there another backup program that will work better so that when I upgrade the ROM to your next release, it will be easier to migrate apps/data?
The reason being it may break the system after installing the Apps and data from the older Android version.
Now a days most of the application developers design their apps to store the user data in cloud.
If not such as WhatsApps: most of the images and files are stored on SDcard and all the messages (even the multimedia files too) can be backed up to the SD card or pushed to Google Drive or Dropbox etc. In anyway when you are upgrading an Android version it is strongly recommended to take a backup of the current phone data so that you just need to copy it into the new ROM after upgrading.
Well, it is still debatable, but personally I do not recommend to use TB. It is still your call to use it and there might not be any problem at all. 🙂June 25, 2017 at 4:02 PM in reply to: Galaxy S4 Mini CM14 (CyanogenMod 14, Nougat 7.0 ROM) #22757
has someone managed to fix it? Does a patch exist?
If this is a known issue with Nougat then this might be fixed by now. Just to remind you that CyanogenMod is dead from development point of view. LineageOS is the new name of CyanogenMod and hence I strongly recommend you to move to the Lineage OS 14.1 for Galaxy S4 Mini.
I have updated a new ROM link by karthick111. Can anyone test this one??June 25, 2017 at 3:45 PM in reply to: Lineage OS 14.1 for Xperia Z3 Compact (z3c) Nougat 7.1 ROM #22752
I met when installing with a phone versioning issue. My is the D8503 above. TWRP reports a Z3 model error. And it all ends.
When you install a ROM from TWRP it checks the model number the TWRP is built with and not the model number shown on Android OS. I will recommend you to install a TWRP built by nailyk and retry flashing the same ROM and see if you go through!!
Do you advise me what to do or wait for a new version from Nailyk where will this be fixed?
Thank you for the advice.
This not a ROM issue and hence this may never be fixed in the upcoming versions.
Otherwise you can modify the updater-script in the ROM zip file and install it forcibly.June 25, 2017 at 3:30 PM in reply to: How to Install TWRP Recovery on Android Using Fastboot #22751
When I am entering recovery mode from bootloader page, it shows a picture of dead android and says no command. Please help. I am on moto g turbo
I think the recovery image is not present on the phone or somehow erased.
Try installing the recovery image once more and then reboot to recovery. Tell me if it still does not work !!June 25, 2017 at 3:27 PM in reply to: How to Install ADB & Fastboot on Linux or MAC OS X #22750

issue resolved. you can format the sd card and make the card personal storage. Just need to copy everything first to a holding space, format, and then copy back after you format.
Sorry for replying you back so late but it’s good to know that you have fixed the issue by yourself. As you said you are new here, I will say there is a lot of learning scope you can explore in the process of doing all these :).
