    This is an UNOFFICIAL Redmi 2 CM 12.1 custom ROM built from Android lollipop 5.1 sources by zwliew. Yes this ROM still has some bugs as this is still an UNOFFICIAL beta build.

    If you are interested then the CyanogenMod 13 rom is now live.

    DISCLAIMER:
    Installing custom ROM requires a custom recovery to be installed on your device, which may VOID your warranty and may delete all your data. Before proceeding further you may consider backup your all data. You are the only person doing changes to your phone.     KNOWN ISSUES:
    – Video playback will have a short 3-4 second screeching noise at the start

     

    Required files for Redmi 2 CM12.1 (CyanogenMod 12.1) Lollipop Custom ROM flashing:

    Make sure that you have installed a custom recovery on your Redmi 2.
    If you still not have a custom recovery for Redmi 2 then have a custom recovery first, otherwise you cannot install CyaongenMod 12.1 on your phone.

    Installation guide of Redmi 2 CM12.1 (CyanogenMod 12.1) Lollipop Custom ROM:

    If you have not yet installed a custom recovery on your Redmi 2 then download the TWRP recovery from above link and head on to the next link to flash the recovery on Redmi 2:
    Install TWRP recovery on any Android phone

    1. Follow this if you are flashing CyanogenMod 12.1 ROM for the first time to your Redmi 2 phone, or coming from another ROM:

      This will delete all your data on your phone. You may consider backing up your phone data or take a nandroid backup. Here is how to take NANDROID backup using TWRP recovery.

      Points to NOTE:
      – Try to avoid restoring apps backup using Titanium Backup. It may break things up.
      – Don’t restore system data using Titanium Backup! It will definitely break the current installation.
      – It is also discouraged to Restoring Apps + Data using Titanium Backup.

      • Download and Copy the GApps and Redmi 2 CyanogenMod 12.1 Lollipop ROM ZIP to your phone.
      • Reboot the Redmi 2 into recovery mode. Make sure to have a Custom recovery like CWM or TWRP or any other custom recovery on the Redmi 2.
      • Wipe data factory reset, Cache partition, Dalvik Cache and Format the System partition.
        – Here is a guide explaining how to wipe data using TWRP recovery.

        This will delete all your data on your phone. You may consider complete backup of your phone data or take a NANDROID backup of the current ROM if you have not done it yet.

      • First flash the CM12.1 ROM ZIP from device. Then flash the GApps zip from your device memory.
        – Here is a post explaining how to flash a custom ROM using TWRP recovery.
        – Use the same guide to flash the GApps too.
      • Reboot and Enjoy the CyanogenMod 12.1 Lollipop ROM on your Redmi 2.
    2. Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 12 ROM on Redmi:

      • Copy the latest Redmi 2 CyanogenMod 12.1 ROM ZIP file to your phone.
      • Boot into Recovery.
      • Flash the latest CM ROM ZIP from your phone.

        – Use the same guide to flash the GApps too.
      • Reboot and Enjoy

    The flashing may take a while, so be patient. When it will be done you can reboot your phone and enjoy the Redmi 2 CM12.1 (CyanogenMod 12.1, Lollipop ROM), the Android Lollipop touch with CyanogenMod.

    Complete the initial setup and enjoy Android Lollipop 5.1.1 with Redmi 2 CM12.1 ROM. After this CyanogenMod 12.1 ROM installation you may want to enable ROOT access on your phone and here is how you can do that:
